to move into the bay creating a narrow area of the navigation channel between the
mainland point, north flood shoal, and swash platform. The east and west chan-
nels around the north flood shoal were both well developed, but the main navi-
gation channel on the west had become shallow from elongation of the western
ebb spit of the flood shoal. The Tern Island channel into the Fish Pier also experi-
enced a narrowing due to shoaling.
The South Beach became more substantially attached to the mainland beach
(25 June 1993 photo mosaic), with overwash of the former spit adding sand to the
