12 hr
after
the
start
of
Day
1.
Because
the
motion
of
the
water
level
and
current
are
complicated
(Fig.
2),
changes
at a
fixed
time
interval
are
not
regular.
The
water
level
fluctuates
between
about
0.4
m, and
the
velocity
fluctuates
between
about
0.4
and
-0.3
m s
-1
for
this
particular
12-hr
interval.
At
the
location
L
/2,
η
is
anti-symmetric
and
u
is
symmetric.
Also,
the
water
surface
along
the
basin
exhibits
some
curvature,
departing
from
a
straight
line
that
might
be expected
intuitively.
